Customer background
Oakywood is a Polish company that was created out of a passion for crafting exquisite everyday objects and furniture. Wanting to expand their line of products to include items equipped with an induction charger for iPhones, they began searching for a contractor to create prototypes. Our collaboration with Oakywood commenced through common networking connections.
The challenge
The challenge entailed prototyping their innovative product line, which harmonized technologically with the latest iPhone models. Given their focus on catering to a premium market, the appearance of the product held paramount significance.
Oakywood’s search for excellence led them to various aspects, including production methods (machining vs. die casting), surface finishes (spray painting vs. powder coating), and form (compatibility with iPhone devices). After initial consultations and valuation, we began the process of production of prototypes.
Project process
With our extensive network of partners, we had no issues selecting the perfect subcontractors for this task. Thanks to this approach, Oakywood solely focused on the designing of shapes, while we provided them with a comprehensive understanding of the ongoing costs and project status.
Our objective assessment and experience enabled them to choose the most efficient and cost-effective production methods while upholding a highest aesthetic standard. We delivered four prototype batches to Oakywood for evaluation and decision-making. Working closely with them, we finalized design choices and moved forward to the final production stage.
Effects of cooperation
The customer was very pleased with the final appearance and functionality of the prototypes. The valuation of the entire production was also a positive surprise for them. In total, we produced 18,000 pieces for them. We have also started the process of prototyping their new product line.
